A Google A Day http://www.agoogleaday.com/#game=started was an activity teaching us how to seatch more affectively. We had to answer question without searching the full question. We had to use key words and phrases to find the answers. I had a lot of fun because it was a nice challenge. It was a little frustrating because at some points you feel like you hit a rock wall and you don't know what to search next. I learned that searching key words or phrases are very helpful. If you can't find the answer you have to find other ways to search for it and A Google A Day helps you realize how that is possible.
While searching for the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus http://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/ we had to search for accuracy authenticity and reliability. The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus web site was a fictional website with a lot of made up facts that I found funny. We discovere it was not a reliable website because the facts didn't add up. It was clearly fictional and this website couldn't be used for school purposes because the facts were not in any way true.
The activities we complete we're very helpful. I would enjoy doing them again an I suggest you do them again in the future. The activities helped me realize that there are different ways of searching rater than just typing in the question and also it helped me realize that people should check the kind of website they use before using the information contained from it.
